New fissure maps for Luke, Pete's Corner areas

Our Earth Fissure team here at the Arizona Geological Survey has released two new maps, covering the Luke area west of Phoenix [right] and Pete's Corner, [bottom] in Pinal County.

As with all the released fissure maps, AZGS is posting pdf images and GIS shape files. Interactive versions of the maps are available at the AZMAP Earth Fissure Viewer web site. You can add background layers and zoom in for more detail.

One of the challenges for AZGS mappers is the amount of development and surface disturbance that have disrupted exposures of the fissures, so that many are taken from previously published reports but our folks couldn't confirm their precise location using our GPS gear.
